Programs & Services Manager
My affection for older adults began as a young child who wore braces on his legs. I found that older women loved my attention as much as I loved theirs. This love affair has continued with me throughout my life. As those dear friends began to die, I struggled as a young adult with my personal loss. This precipitated my interest in the dying process. In 1977 when hospice was introduced to Hawaii, I took my first volunteer training. I have remained active in the hospice movement since. Currently, I facilitate grief support groups for Hospice of Petaluma and Memorial Hospice.
As I entered my midlife, I achieved a master’s degree in psychology with an emphasis on aging. In 2011 my spouse, Erick Larson, and I became managers of retirement communities in North Bay. He is now a manger of a home care company in Marin, Sonoma and Napa Counties while I have most recently been an eldercare advisor in Sonoma and Napa Valleys. I am very excited to be on the staff of the Vintage House as the Programs and Services Manager. My intention in my position is to give my creativity, energy and experience to improve the quality and enjoyment of life for the seniors of Sonoma Valley.
